Claiming an instant or lotto prize is easy:
Prizes of $100 or
less
Present your winning ticket to your favorite Lottery retailer or
sign and mail it to the Lottery at PO Box 7107, Pierre, SD 57501. If
you mail your winning ticket, you should receive your prize money in
7-10 days.
Prizes of more than
$100
Prizes of more than $100 must be paid by the Lottery. You may
present your winning ticket of more than $100 to the nearest
Lottery
office.
Or, you can claim your prize
by mail:

Fill out a claim form, available at your local Lottery
retailer, or
download one here;

Sign the back of the ticket in the space provided;
·
Send the completed claim form and winning ticket to the
Lottery at PO Box 7107, Pierre, SD 57501.
You should receive your
prize money in 7-10 days.
Any jackpot winning ticket
for Dakota Raffle, Dakota Cash, Wild Card 2 or Hot Lotto or the Powerball’s second
prize must be presented in person at a Lottery office. A
jackpot-winning Powerball ticket must be presented in person to the
Lottery office in Pierre.
Won the jackpot?
Congratulations! Our first
advice is that you immediately sign the back of the ticket and put it in
a safe place. We also strongly encourage you to take your time and seek
professional financial and legal advice. We also offer a

arrangements to validate the ticket and pay your prize.
Taxes
Federal Law requires the Lottery to report winnings of more than $600 to
the IRS and to withhold 25 percent of any claim of more than $5,000.
Time Limit to Claim a
Prize
Lotto prizes: Prizes must
be claimed within 180 days after the date of the drawing in which the
prize was won.
Scratch tickets: Prizes can
be claimed up to 180 days after the announced end date of a game. See
