Lesterville Couple
Claims Dakota Cash Jackpot
(Pierre, S.D.) -- Linda Lawrence of Lesterville is the winner of the
$230,674 Dakota Cash jackpot. Lawrence and her husband Robert today claimed
the prize they won in the Wednesday, June 13 drawing.
The couple were out of state late last week and didn't realize they'd won
until Friday night. Linda saw the winning numbers on television and tried to
convince Robert they had the winning ticket. "Yeah right," he said "Let's go
do chores." He was stunned when he finally looked at the ticket. So was
Linda. "I cried twice," she said.
Even after claiming the prize at the Sioux Falls Lottery office this
morning, Linda says she's still trying to grasp becoming the latest jackpot
winner. "It hasn't quite sunk in yet, but it's starting to feel real good,"
she said.
Linda is a nurse in Tyndall. Robert drives truck delivering campers and
boats. The couple also has a small farm near Tyndall.
The winning ticket was purchased at Gemar's Market in Scotland. The store
will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the lucky "quick pick" ticket.
Dakota Cash is played only in South Dakota. The odds of winning the
jackpot are 1:324,632. The jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday night
is $20,000.
