Rosholt woman wins $245,550 Dakota Cash jackpot;
Store sells its second jackpot winning ticket
(Pierre) – Diane Borgheiinck of Rosholt is the winner of the ninth
largest Dakota Cash jackpot ever won. She and her husband Darold claimed
the $245,550 prize earlier today at the Lottery office in Sioux Falls.
Borgheiinck said she picked her winning numbers using family
birthdates, including that of Gizmo, her son’s dog. She checked the
Lottery’s website the day after the drawing and discovered all her
numbers matched. “I started shaking when I saw they were my numbers,” she
said.
By matching all five numbers for the Wednesday, April 6 drawing,
Borgheiinck is the 91st player to win the jackpot since the game began in
April, 1993.
Borgheiinck purchased her ticket at Devin’s Jack & Jill in Rosholt. It
is the second time a jackpot-winning Dakota Cash ticket has been sold at
the store.
Devin Anderson, Jack & Jill’s owner, said he was glad his store sold
another big winner. “It’s fun for our business, and it was my mother who
sold the winning ticket,” Anderson said.
Devin’s also sold the $82,927 jackpot winning ticket for the June 5,
1996 drawing. That prize was won by Virginia Renelt of Rosholt.
The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket
for Wednesday’s drawing.
Dakota Cash is South Dakota’s very own lotto game, and is played only
in South Dakota. The jackpot for the game’s next drawing on Saturday,
April 9 is $20,000.
