Spearfish man claims $200,000 Powerball prize

(Pierre) – Michael Gomez of Spearfish stepped forward today to claim his $200,000 Powerball prize won in the July 1, 2006 drawing. The Lottery has been eagerly waiting for the player to come forward, as the ticket was set to expire on December 28.

Gomez claimed his prize late this afternoon at the Rapid City redemption center. He purchased the ticket, a “quick pick,” at the Loaf ’N Jug in Spearfish. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

A $210,037 Dakota Cash jackpot prize is also unclaimed, but that ticket doesn’t expire until March 29, 2007. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Huron for the September 30, 2006 drawing. Lotto prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing.
