Custer man wins $135,210 Dakota Cash jackpot

(Pierre) – Thomas Hargens of Custer won the $135,210 Dakota Cash jackpot by matching all five numbers for the Wednesday, August 11 drawing. Hargens claimed his prize at the Lottery office in Rapid City today.

Hargens discovered he held the winning ticket last night when he checked the numbers in the newspaper. “I haven’t missed a drawing since the game began,” he said. “Checking the numbers is always the first thing I do when I get home from work on Thursdays and when I get the paper on Sunday mornings.” Hargens used his own numbers on his winning play, but he also purchased several “quick picks” for the same drawing.

Hargens purchased his ticket at the Common Cents store in Custer.  The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Dakota Cash is South Dakota’s very own lotto game and is played only in South Dakota.  Hargens is the 89th player to win the Dakota Cash jackpot since the game began in 1993.
