Hot Lotto Jackpot Reaches Record $11.32 Million

(Pierre) – The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s Hot Lotto drawing is $11.32 million, making it the biggest ever in the game’s history. The cash option is estimated at $6.71 million.

The October 21 drawing will be the 53rd drawing since the jackpot was last won on April 19, 2006.

The previous record jackpot of $10.8 million was won in Minnesota on Sept. 15, 2004. Shirley and Luverne Vehle of Sioux Falls won the next highest jackpot of $9.13 million on June 15, 2005.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1:10,939,383. Lottery director Norm Lingle said, “A record jackpot is exciting for our players and our retailers. We want people to have fun, but ask them to play responsibly.”

Tickets for Saturday’s drawing can be purchased until 9:00 p.m. (CT) / 8:00 p.m. (MT) Saturday night at 428 lotto retailers across the state.

Hot Lotto started in April 2002. The game is currently played in nine lotteries: South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, West Virginia, New Hampshire, and the District of Columbia.
