Pierre woman claims $62,197 Dakota Cash jackpot

(Pierre) – Gaytha Ten Eyck of Pierre is the state’s latest Dakota Cash jackpot winner. She claimed her $62,197 prize for the July 6th drawing at the Pierre Lottery office earlier today.

Ten Eyck stopped at a grocery store this morning to have her ticket checked, not knowing she held the winning ticket.

“It’s fun sharing the news with people who are excited about it,” Ten Eyck said. The former kindergarten teacher said she plans to share her prize with her family and contribute to family college funds.

Ten Eyck purchased her ticket at the Cowboy Country Store #2 on North Euclid Avenue in Pierre. “I stopped there to buy tickets because I had a feeling. It’s a new store. I figured that they needed the business.”

The store, which has been selling lottery tickets for only three weeks, will receive a $3,109 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

“It’s amazing,” store manager Jody Carter said. “We just opened and boom, we have a winner!”

Ten Eyck is the 94th winner of the Dakota Cash jackpot. The lotto game is played only in South Dakota. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1:324,632.
